Dear Computer Gods;

If you help me recover all the data from my disintegrating hard drive, I promise to back up my data at least once a week. A lot has happened on my computer since January, which happens to be the last time I backed up my computer. Pretty please?

  1. I'm sorry. I really am. But your post made me think of this:

  2. Oh, boo. :( That happened to me once and it is not fun. Hope you can recover some things.

  3. Oh sugar!

    To borrow the famous add: "automated online backup for one year: $50- peace of mind: priceless"...

    (I started doing that after I burned my fingers in a minor way with backing up)

    I'll light a candle for St Rita, patron saint of hopeless cases/causes, as I can't imagine who else would deal with computers...

  4. Yeah, that happened to me ONCE and I lost a TON of baby photos of my oldest daughter! I'm too lazy to back up my files, so I pay for Mozy to do it automatically! Worth every penny...

  5. Is the hard disk spinning up, or is it giving you an I/O error? If it's giving you an I/O error you *might* be able to retrieve the data by removing it, cleaning the contacts very gently, and trying to get the data onto another hd.

  6. Spinrite + Carbonite

    Hope you can recover what you need!

  7. Backblaze. Best $$ I ever spent. Good wishes and vibes coming your way.

  8. The same thing just happened to me......I'm sending my drive out to get recovered, hoping for good news...
